The State University of New York at New Paltz hosted its 7th annual Alternative Spring Break (ASB) Program from March 17 through 23, 2017.  Eleven students, including two Peer Mentors and one First-Year Intern, were chosen from a pool of applicants to participate in leadership activities and to serve on 9 different projects during their break.  In total, the group completed 550 hours of leadership and volunteer activities in the Mid-Hudson Valley community.

The participants held a donation drive at Tops in New Paltz to collect donations for Chiz’s Heart Street  in Kingston, NY. In three hours, the students collected 50 items and $211.  In addition to these collections, the group also volunteered with Mohonk Preserve, Chiz’s Heart Street, Safe Harbour of Ulster County, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh, The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, and Phillies Bridge Farm Project.
